May 4, 2011 – If you’ve been tasked with planning a bachelorette party, it’s likely that you want to make the future bride stand out and have been thinking of some costume ideas. If nothing else, you should make sure the bride to be has a veil to mark her out. As the costs of a bachelorette party can add up, you should try making your own veil as it really is simple to do and veils can be made really cheaply.
So along with your other bachelorette party supplies, grab yourself these bits and pieces to make up a great veil:
Material (netting or cheap tulle type fabric)
Hair band or hair combs
Glue gun or sewing thread and needle
Decorative extras
It really is simple, you just need to choose how long a veil you want to make, gather one end up and attach it to your headband or combs. To gather up one end you can either:
1. Get your needle out and sew a simple running stitch along the top end of your fabric, around an inch or so from the edge. Once you’ve gone all the way along the edge, just push the fabric along the thread until it gathers, and once you’ve got it looking good and the right size to fit your hair band you can simply sew or glue it on.
2. Pin a hem around an inch deep at the top end of the fabric for your bachelorette’s veil, then either machine or hand sew it in place so that you’re left with a tube that you can slot your hair band through. Slip the hair band through, gather up the fabric onto it (you can glue or sew the ends in place to keep it in shape if needed) and you’re ready to go!
3. If sewing isn’t your thing, you can easily glue your veil fabric straight onto your chosen hair band. Just glue small sections at a time to the hair band, gathering up the sections before you glue so that the veil fits your hair band.
So quick and simple! So now you’re bachelorette’s veil is complete, you can add any decorative touches. Try sequins or gems, confetti pieces or other more silly touches depending on your bachelorette party’s theme.
The lead up to a wedding can involve a lot of planning and spending, thinking up bridal shower gift ideas, buying that new outfit you’ve got your eye on, but follow this guide and you can create a brilliant veil for the bachelorette party simply and cheaply.
